Comparing Colors
To compare two colors in DeltaMunki:
- Drag a first color sample, project or CXF file to the upper color well
- Drag a second color sample, project or CXF file to the lower color well
After you have dragged colors to both of the color wells, DeltaMunki will immediately calculate the color difference and display the ΔE value as well as the lightness, chroma and hue differences in the text fields between the color wells.
The upper color well is considered the reference color and the lower color well is considered the comparison color, and the mathematical sign of the lightness, chroma and hue calculations is based on this order of calculation, as explained further below.
Note: Do not use the on-screen colors to make subjective judgements. Your screen does not have the dynamic range necessary to display all colors properly, nor is it likely that it is calibrated to the necessary standard to make valid comparisons. In addition, your viewing environment will greatly affect the way you perceive colors on-screen, so you need to be in a well controlled lighting environment to be able to compare colors with your eyes. As a result, the colors displayed in DeltaMunki only serve as a reference to remind you which colors you dragged in for comparison.
